A bit overgrown in places, but more in my comfort level. The views from the top were incredible today. From San Jacinto and San Gregornio to San Clemente Island. unreal.joehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15035137761408018577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3797598074793378196.post-65489688225662611872018-02-18T09:14:07.897-08:002018-02-18T09:14:07.897-08:00joe schmoo,

Steep, crumbly slippery dirt with nothing to hold onto sounds like you were on the right track. The section up the first bump was the most difficult. If you have a GPS device or GPS in your phone, you can follow the track from this link:

http://peakbagger.com/climber/GPXFile.aspx?aid=348706&sep=1

Another option is a use trail/firebreak that starts just after the first sharp turnaround on the dirt section of Maple Springs Road. It follows a ridge and crosses the road twice before hitting it higher up. You are only on the road for maybe a half mile. Here is the route in caltopo:

https://caltopo.com/m/TU5A

I've done the caltopo route but never wrote a report about it. The use trial is much easier to find.tekewinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10230830520110635922noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3797598074793378196.post-80187412150443233382018-02-18T08:04:55.778-08:002018-02-18T08:04:55.778-08:00I gave this a try yesterday. got lost twice in the...I gave this a try yesterday. got lost twice in the lower area. Seems the trail has eroded badly or I just didn't know what I was doing. I ended up on sections that were very steep with crumbly slippery dirt and nothing solid to hold on to. I really wanted to try a trail up mojeska peak, to avoid hiking with motorized vehicles, but this one was really hard to follow for me.joehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15035137761408018577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3797598074793378196.post-10973129561601111152014-04-07T14:36:01.149-07:002014-04-07T14:36:01.149-07:00Nicely done! My group decided to head down the Sierra Club route #4 and then do the walk rather than face that pathway downhill. All in all, it was a really good hike. My wife and I will be doing this again soon.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13506100510879495020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3797598074793378196.post-82227914774154202252014-04-03T13:02:52.482-07:002014-04-03T13:02:52.482-07:00Unknown,

That is often the source of my own problems.tekewinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10230830520110635922noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3797598074793378196.post-43390261756376762832013-09-12T09:42:06.386-07:002013-09-12T09:42:06.386-07:00Pro: No hikers on the trail
