French Hill is a bump in the center of the Irvine suburbs, surrounded on three sides by houses, and Concordia University to the north. After two days of heavy rain, the dirt trails were a mudfest. I tried to stay just off trail in the grass or shrubs and this was somewhat effective in limiting the mud build up on my boots to less than an inch. A rock cairn marked the top of the hill. I went up the west side, over the top, and down the south side, jogging back to the car along Turtle Rock Drive. There is very limited public parking on Concordia, maybe enough for a ten cars. I was one of two there at 8:00 AM on a Sunday morning.
